Transformational Leadership and Change

Request Program Agenda

Course Overview

This course deepens our understanding of how leaders produced change in organisations. We look specifically at how leaders establish a compelling direction, align people and groups, and inspire and motivate them to achieve organisational goals.

You will examine myths about leadership, evaluate different conceptions of change, as well as various theoretical models that have been proposed in the past. From there, we dig deep into the change process. We examine how people often respond rigidly to situations perceived as threatening to the organisational status quo. Then, of course we examine the key steps in a successful transformation process. Ultimately, leaders must ensure that changes “stick” in an organisation, in certain techniques can be used to help institutionalise long-lived change effectively.

Perhaps the most important role of a leader is to guarantee that an organisation will endure even when she no longer works there. Effective leaders develop the people who work for them, and they cultivate their successors. At the conclusion of this program you will appreciate, comprehend and recognise that successful transformational leaders don’t have to be born—they can be made.
